Description: Miscellaneous records, consisting mainly of correspondence, faculty meeting minutes, curriculum guidelines and programs from various performances given by music department faculty and students. Administrative correspondence is largely between department chair and the Dean of the School of Fine Arts regarding curriculum planning, budgeting and departmental activities. Other correspondence regards planning of music performance series such as Summer Evenings of Music, The Fine Arts Quartet, Christmas Festivals of Courtly Music and Music-From-Almost-Yesterday. The faculty meeting minutes document curriculum changes, awarding of scholarships and fellowships, faculty appointments and the development and changes of the graduate program of the department. The files also contain information on guest artists who performed at UWM, including The New York Woodwind Quintet, The Dave Brubeck Jazz Quartet, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

The WPA + 35 Exhibition, January 4-30, 1970, presented by the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee was a tribute to the crafts and quality of design which came of the Milwaukee Handicraft Project. Administrative history note: The Department of Music began in 1914, and operated continuously through the State Normal School and the State Teachers' College, the predecessor institutions of UWM. From the time UWM was established in 1956 until 1962, the Department of Music reported to the College of Letters & Science.
